Sequoia Capital has shortlisted 15 startups from around the world for the third cohort of the Surge program or Sequoia Surge 03. Of the selected startups, seven of them are from India. Sequoia Surge 03 is a 15 week-long startup accelerator program by Sequoia India which began on April 13 online.
Up until now, the selected startups have raised nearly $39 million in their Surge rounds. As part of the Sequoia Surge program, Sequoia invests $1-2 million of seed capital along with company-building workshops, global immersion trips, and community support from other successful startup founders. Entrepreneurs like BYJU’s Byju Raveendran, Zomato’s Deepinder Goyal, Cred’s Kunal Shah, Freshworks’ Girish Mathrubootham are some of the notable mentors for the program.
The shortlisted startups for Sequoia Surge 03 cover a wide range of sectors, including SaaS, enterprise tech, consumer services, fitness, food and beverage (F&B), edtech, and health tech. For the third cohort, Sequoia used video conferencing platform Zoom, Surge app and other digital tools to ensure mentorship is not affected during the coronavirus pandemic and resulting lockdown. Atlan
Founded by Prukalpa Sankar and Varun Banka in 2019, Atlan is headquartered in Singapore and New Delhi. Atlan is aiming to build a home for data teams by bringing together diverse people, tools to create a frictionless collaboration experience.
Convosight
Tamanna Dhmaija, Tarun Dhamija, and Kartik Bansal founded Convosight in Hyderabad in 2019. Convosight is a community management platform, which leverages data analytics and machine learning to help admins and brands to create, moderate, grow, and leverage communities in a better way.
DrinkPrime
DrinkPrime has been founded by Manas Ranjan Hota and Vijender Reddy, based in Bengaluru, in 2016. DrinkPrime is a subscription-based smart water purifier maker. Users don’t have to worry about installation, relocation, maintenance hassles.
Fittr
The Pune-based startup, Fittr, was founded by Jitendra Chouksey, Sonal Singh, Jyoti Dabas, Bala Krishna Reddy, and Rohit Chattopadhyay in 2016. Fittr started as a platform that lets people get help from each other for achieving their fitness goals. It has registered over 800K users across the world.
Procol
Gaurav Baheti and Sumit Mendiratta came together in 2018 and started Procol in Gurugram. Procol is building a digital procurement platform for live auctions, market rates, collaboration, and intelligent insights. The platform helps companies digitise their buying processes by bringing transparency, traceability, and cost savings.
Last9
Last9 is a site reliability engineering (SRE) platform, which helps enterprises to run their systems at scale. The platform is currently deployed in closed beta at some of the websites in India and ASEAN countries. It was founded by Nishant Modak and Piyush Verma in 2020 with headquarters in Pune and Santa Clara, USA.
