Without a doubt, travel and tourism has been the hardest hit industry worldwide in this Covid-19 crisis. The aviation industry took the first hit with all domestic and international flights getting grounded due to lockdown in many countries. However, not to let an opportunity go and keep spirits still flying high, Indian airline carriers took to Twitter and the conversation that followed had everyone in splits. What followed was good advertising.
It all started with a tweet from IndiGo to Vistara.
Hey @airvistara , not #flyinghigher these days we heard? #StayingParkedStayingSafe #LetsIndiGo
— IndiGo (@IndiGo6E) April 10, 2020
‘Fly Higher’ is Vistara’s tagline. Vistara took this is in the best way possible and even added GoAir to the conversation.
No 😌 @IndiGo6E, these days being on-ground is a wonderful thing. Flying would not be the ‘smart’ choice, what say @goairlinesindia? #StayingParkedStayingSafe
— Vistara (@airvistara) April 10, 2020
GoAir also responded with an equally hilarious comment using AirAsia’s tagline ‘Now Everyone can Fly’ and inviting the airline to the thread.
Totally, @airvistara! Staying home is the safe feeling! We can hardly wait till everyone takes to the skies, coz at the moment it’s not like #NowEveryoneCanFly right, @AirAsiaIndian? #StayingParkedStayingSafe
— GoAir (@goairlinesindia) April 10, 2020
AirAsia added their two cents and advocated staying at home by describing SpiceJet. And SpiceJet rounded up the keeper of flights by circling in Delhi Airport in the loop.
@AirAsiaIndian, good to know our thoughts match, like our colours! Been a while since this bird flew out of her cage. But we’re happy creating a safer tomorrow, today! Right @DelhiAirport?#StayingParkedStayingSafe
— SpiceJet (@flyspicejet) April 10, 2020
This small gesture of bringing a change in the daily mood for everyone was acknowledged by Delhi Airport through their Twitter handle and we couldn’t agree more!
Agree with you @IndiGo6E @airvistara @goairlinesindia @AirAsiaIndian @flyspicejet, the Indian skies will be coloured with you soon but for now thanks for giving us a reason to smile! Together in the skies, and together on ground too! #WorkFromHub #StayingParkedStayingSafe
— Delhi Airport (@DelhiAirport) April 10, 2020
This was a simple gesture but the impact can be felt miles away. With every marketing gimmick in the book being overused, it’s good to see something fresh and relevant while still being thoughtful. They even promoted the hashtag #StayingParkedStayingSafe which has been trending on the microblogging site ever since.
