Startup Acquisitions in India, 2026: 15 Deals and Their Terms

Marico’s deal for Cosmix valued the whole business at about ₹375 crore, while Pine Labs agreed to buy Shopflo for up to ₹88 crore.[1][2] Those figures measure different things. This tracker examines 15 selected startup acquisitions linked to India, separating ownership, price basis and evidence of completion as of 24 September 2026.
Key takeaways
- Six of the 15 selected deals, or 40%, bought consumer brands; nine of the 15 disclosed a price or valuation.
- Cosmix’s equity valuation of about ₹375 crore applies to the whole business; the agreed initial stake was 60%.[1]
- Udaan’s proposed purchase of Lynk values the business at ₹500 crore, paid in Udaan shares rather than cash.[3]
- Innovist’s transaction received competition approval on 22 September 2026; approval alone does not establish closing.[4]
What the acquisition tracker covers
The table is a selected, source-checked set of 15 transactions announced between 1 January and 24 September 2026. It covers Indian startup and growth-company targets, plus overseas purchases by Indian-origin technology groups. Rows run in announcement-date order. This is neither an exhaustive national count nor a ranking of the largest deals.
The Company Check’s acquisition records provide the starting set of targets, buyers and dates. Announcement pages supply the ownership terms and transaction status. Fourteen selected targets match acquisition-feed entries; Lynk’s September transaction is added from the dated external report. The selection favours deals with readable evidence about the businesses and terms.
One transaction gets one row, even when it appears under both a brand and its legal parent. Innovist maps to Onesto Labs in the company records. Its June agreement and September competition approval are two milestones in the same transaction. Counting them separately would inflate activity.[5][6][7][4]
The published figures retain their original currencies and qualifiers. A capped purchase price stays capped; a whole-company valuation stays labelled as such. A blank or zero amount in an acquisition feed does not establish a free acquisition. Where the cited announcement omits a price, the table says precisely that.

Who bought whom: 15 transactions and their terms
Dates below identify the announcement or first dated report used here, rather than the eventual legal closing date. The status column states what the cited evidence establishes. “Announced” does not mean a transaction necessarily remains pending on 24 September; it means a separate closing confirmation has not been established in this evidence set.

The table contains nine rows with a numerical price or valuation and six without one. That is a disclosure count within this selection. It is not evidence that disclosed transactions were larger than undisclosed ones. Nor can the nine numbers be added into a meaningful cash-spent total: they include different ownership percentages and payment structures.
USV’s Wellbeing Nutrition deal illustrates the distinction. The 12 February report describes a definitive agreement for 79% that values the whole business at about ₹1,583 crore. The table keeps both numbers. Quoting ₹1,583 crore as the price of the 79% stake would overstate what USV agreed to pay.[13]
The 4700BC terms were stated more directly: up to ₹226.83 crore for 93.27% of Zea Maize, the brand’s owner, with PVR INOX selling its holding. Marico’s May results announcement subsequently described both 4700BC and Cosmix as acquisitions made during the March quarter. That later statement, made before the cut-off, supports a completed label for those two entries.[9][10]
Price, valuation and cash paid: three separate questions
Cosmix offers a simple worked example. Multiplying its equity valuation of about ₹375 crore by the 60% initial stake gives about ₹225 crore. This is proportional arithmetic, not an independently disclosed settlement amount. It explains why the whole-company valuation cannot be presented as the cheque for the stake.[1]
An equity valuation describes the value attributed to shareholders’ ownership. A transaction can buy only part of that ownership. The comparison therefore needs two numbers: the percentage changing hands and the amount attached to it. Leaving out either one makes majority-stake purchases look more comparable with full buyouts than they are.
Shopflo adds another qualification. The reported agreement covers 100% for up to ₹88 crore in cash. “Up to” places a ceiling on the stated consideration; it does not certify that the maximum was paid. Nykaa’s approved 51% purchase of Aminu similarly carries a cash cap of ₹32 crore.[2][31]
Emami’s IncNut agreement attaches performance-linked adjustments to the ₹321 crore initial 60% transaction. The report also describes later purchases of the remaining stake. A reader comparing exit values needs to preserve that distinction between the initial deal and future ownership changes. The headline amount does not settle every subsequent payment.[21]
Payment form matters as much as size. Oxyzo’s proposed GoldenPi purchase is a ₹42.4 crore share-swap transaction. Shares are the consideration described in the report. Treating that number as a cash outflow would turn an ownership exchange into a different financing event.[25]
Lynk is a larger example of the same problem. The proposed sale by Swiggy values the business at ₹500 crore. Swiggy is paid in Udaan preference shares worth about 2.8% of Udaan, not in cash. Counting ₹500 crore as Udaan’s cash spend would misstate the deal.[3]
Swiggy also proposed a separate ₹75 crore primary investment for roughly 0.4%, taking the combined expected holding to 3.2%. Adding that investment to the acquisition headline would mix two transactions. One concerns the transfer of a business; the other puts fresh capital into the buyer. They need separate lines in any deal model.[3]
What the targets earned before the deal
Filed accounts give a second check on the headline numbers. The table sets each deal figure beside the target’s latest total income in The Company Check’s records. Total income includes other income. Each figure carries its own financial year.
| Target | Legal entity | Financial year | Total income | Net result | Deal figure |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4700BC | Zea Maize Private Limited[35] | FY2024-25 | ₹101.98 crore | ₹16.06 crore loss | Up to ₹226.83 crore for 93.27% |
| Cosmix | Cosmix Wellness Private Limited[36] | FY2024-25 | ₹50.94 crore | ₹8.22 crore profit | ₹375 crore equity valuation for 100% |
| Wellbeing Nutrition | Nutritionalab Private Limited[37] | FY2024-25 | ₹118.97 crore | ₹37.97 crore loss | ₹1,583 crore valuation for 100% |
| Shopflo | Shopflo Technologies Private Limited[38] | FY2024-25 | ₹15.45 crore | ₹3.30 crore loss | Up to ₹88 crore for 100% |
| IncNut Digital | Incnut Digital Private Limited[39] | FY2024-25 | ₹178.68 crore | ₹29.86 lakh profit | ₹321 crore for 60% |
| GoldenPi | Goldenpi Technologies Private Limited[40] | FY2024-25 | ₹9.02 crore | ₹2.00 crore loss | ₹42.4 crore in shares for the whole company |
| Innovist | Onesto Labs Private Limited[6] | FY2024-25 | ₹301.39 crore | ₹12.09 crore profit | Price not disclosed |
| Lynk | Lynks Logistics Limited[41] | FY2023-24 | ₹418.73 crore | ₹1.82 crore loss | ₹500 crore valuation, paid in Udaan shares |
4700BC makes a clean worked example. Up to ₹226.83 crore for 93.27% implies about ₹243 crore for the whole company. Zea Maize reported ₹101.98 crore of total income and a ₹16.06 crore loss in FY2024-25. The implied value is therefore about 2.4 times a year’s income, for a business that was still losing money.[9][35]
Cosmix was priced higher on the same test. Its ₹375 crore equity valuation is about 7.4 times the ₹50.94 crore that Cosmix Wellness reported for FY2024-25, a year with an ₹8.22 crore profit. Wellbeing Nutrition’s ₹1,583 crore valuation is about 13.3 times Nutritionalab’s FY2024-25 total income of ₹118.97 crore.[1][36][13][37]
These ratios use past income, while buyers pay for expected growth. Treat them as a screen for follow-up questions, not a verdict on whether a buyer overpaid. The next filing for each target will show how it traded under new ownership.
Consumer brands lead the selection; technology deals buy capabilities
Consumer brands account for six of the 15 selected deals, or 40% by count. That grouping includes nutrition, snacks and personal care. It describes this editorial sample, not the sector split of every Indian acquisition in 2026. Each target receives one sector label so that a transaction cannot enter the count twice.
| Editorial sector group | Transactions | Share of selected deals |
|---|---|---|
| Consumer brands | 6 | 40.0% |
| Commerce software | 3 | 20.0% |
| Semiconductors | 2 | 13.3% |
| B2B commerce | 2 | 13.3% |
| Financial services | 1 | 6.7% |
| Skills and mobility | 1 | 6.7% |
The consumer transactions also show different approaches to control. Cosmix’s founders were to retain the balance stake and continue leading the business. Innovist’s June agreement similarly retained its founding team as minority shareholders, with rights for a later full buyout. These arrangements preserve operating continuity while transferring majority ownership.[1][7]
In software, the announced purchase rationale is more specific than buying scale. Pine Labs says Shopflo brings checkout tools for identity verification, analytics, payments and cart customisation. InMobi describes MobileAction as an app-marketing and analytics platform. Both announcements identify a capability the buyer wants to offer alongside its existing services.[19][23]
MoEngage’s Aampe announcement focuses on artificial-intelligence systems that decide customer messages, timing and channels. Its financial terms were undisclosed. The product rationale can therefore be assessed from the announcement, while a judgement about the purchase price cannot. A stated strategic fit is not evidence of an attractive valuation.[29]
Semiconductor deals address a different set of capabilities. Quest Global said BITSILICA adds chip-design and verification expertise. C2i Semiconductors, founded in 2024 in Bengaluru, makes multiphase controllers and power stages for artificial-intelligence data centres.[32] Grouping both as technology acquisitions is accurate but conceals the distinct engineering work each buyer is acquiring.[15][33]
The remaining cases bring distribution or services. Meesho’s Kirana Club acquisition adds an app that helps small retailers find, compare and buy packaged consumer goods. Emversity says Lanstitut extends its reach into training and placing healthcare workers in Germany. These are concrete operating capabilities, not interchangeable examples of buying another startup.[27][17]
Check the closing milestone before counting an exit
Innovist is the clearest timing test. The June announcement made completion conditional on approvals and other requirements. The Competition Commission of India’s page confirms approval dated 22 September 2026. That establishes a regulatory milestone. It does not, by itself, establish the date when shares changed hands or the buyer began consolidating the business.[7][4]
Infineon’s 24 August announcement expected the C2i transaction to close in the third quarter of 2026. An expected timetable is not a closing notice. The same discipline applies when a headline says “acquires” but the text describes future conditions. Use the more precise transaction wording, rather than upgrading status from the headline alone.[33][2]
For a comparable-deal shortlist, start with the target’s actual business and the percentage acquired. Then record the price basis, payment instrument, performance adjustments and confirmed milestone. A consumer-brand majority purchase can inform a different question from a software capability acquisition. Comparing them only by headline amount discards the terms that explain the transaction.
Before treating a deal as an investor exit, establish who sold and what they received. Before treating it as buyer expenditure, separate cash from shares and future payments. Keep the announcement date beside the closing evidence. That produces a usable transaction record without turning an agreement, an approval and a completed purchase into the same event.

Frequently asked questions
How many acquisitions does this tracker cover?
It examines 15 selected transactions announced by 24 September 2026. It is a source-checked comparison, not a national acquisition census. Rows follow announcement dates rather than deal values.
Why is there no combined acquisition-value total?
The disclosed figures include partial-stake prices, whole-company valuations, capped amounts and share swaps. They cannot be added into a consistent cash-spent total. Six selected announcements also omit a numerical price.
Does competition approval mean a deal is complete?
Approval establishes a regulatory milestone. Innovist’s June announcement also referred to other closing conditions, while the regulator’s page records approval on 22 September 2026. A separate closing statement is needed to establish completion.[7][4]
Are overseas targets included?
Yes, where the buyer is an Indian-origin technology group in the stated scope. MobileAction and Aampe are San Francisco-headquartered targets. Their buyers announced the transactions without disclosing financial terms.[23][29]
