Funding in Indian Startups [18 Jan – 23 Jan]

The Fourth week of January witnessed an increase in the startups investment reaching $128 million in comparison to $45 million of the previous week. Funding from Salesforce in the SaaS startup being the highlight of the week.

This week observed a total of 16 deals and two debt funding deals worth $29 million.

Major Fundings:

  • Dunzo, established in July 2014 a Bangaluru based hyperlocal food delivery platform raised $40 million in its new funding round.
    • This series E funding was led by Google, Lightbox, Evolvence, Hana Financial Investment, LGT Lightstone Aspada, and Alteria, among others.
  • DeHaat, one of the fastest-growing agri-tech startups based out in Patna raised $30 million in Series C funding.
    • The funding was led by Prosus Ventures and many of it’s existing investors.
  • MFine, a health-tech startup raised $16 million led by Heritas Capital, along with many of its existing investors.
  • Darwinbox, an HRtech platform established in 2015, closed a $15 million deal in the funding round led by Salesforce.

Other Fundings:

  • Noida based lithium-ion battery pack manufacturer company Lohum Cleantech established in 2018, raised a funding of $7 million led by Baring Private Equity and other investors.
  • Gegadyne Energy, established in 2017 announced that it has raised $5 million from V-Guard Industries in Series A funding.
  • A tech-enabled distribution and logistics ecosystem platform Ripplr, has raised $ 3 million in Series A funding from Zephyr Peacock India Growth Fund. Other investors include the Chand Family Office – Yukti and 3one4 Capital.
  • A B2B manufacturing market place Fashinza raised a seed funding of $2.6 million.
  • An Edtech startup Udayy established in 2019 raised $2.5 million in a seed round led by Alpha Wave Incubation.
  • BeyondSkool, a Live online upskilling academy for kids, announced that it has raised $2 million in a seed round from Tomorrow Capital.
  • Established in April 2020, a live game streaming and community platform Turnip, received an investment of $1.63 million from Elevation Capital.
  • ShopG, a social e-commerce platform raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round led by Orios Venture Partners and RPSG Ventures.
  • Mindler, An Edtech startup announced that it is raising a $1 million pre-Series A round led by Inflection Point Ventures.
  • An undisclosed strategic investor invested $1 million in Dangal games, an online gaming platform.
  • Memechat, raised $1,50,000 from early stage venture fund 500 startup.
